This year we have introduced a couple of daytime events to make the festival a complete weekend event, with films, forums and some interactive action.
Surf Culture Forum
Saturday 10am - 11.30am @ Yallingup Hall
Local and visiting surf and surf culture legends will explore surf culture in an informal discussion; where it’s been and where it’s heading - open to the public to attend and participate in the Question Time session.
Filmmaker's Forum
Sunday 2pm - 3.30pm @ Yallingup Hall
Local and visiting filmmakers will be exploring new surf film making techniques and trends.A forum with a workshop feel. Open to the public to participate in this unique event.
Tarp Surfing Demo
Saturday 2pm - 3.30pm @ Dunsborough Sports Oval at the basketball court
Mark Hills and Yahoo Surf and his mates from Drifter Skateboards will be putting on a great demonstration of surfing on land. If you don’t feel like getting wet or there’s no surf, tarp surfing is the way to go. 6 awesome riders will show you the best of barrel riding!
Fancy Dress Surfing Competition
Sunday 8am - midday @ Yallingup Mainbreak
Registration is at 8am, either at Yallingup Mainbreak or at Shallows.
Entry Fee: $5,-
Proceeds go to Disabled Surfers South West
This comp is all about having fun! Dress up and join in on your board, be it long, short, single fin , whichever suits your style. Be sure to dress up in costume which is safe in the surf, not restrictive. If waves are too high on the day, a fun fancy dress paddle will go ahead. So no matter what the waves are, this will be a great fun spectacle for all!
Surfboard Line Up! Auction
Sunday 6.30pm @ Clancy's Fish Pub
A fundraiser for SurfAid International! The Surfboard Line Up! is a trail of painted surfboards, placed in cafes and shops, in Perth, Dunsborough, margaret River and Yallingup in the 6 weeks leading up to another exciting Yallingup Surfilm Festival. The surfboards are painted by renowned artists, and will be auctioned off at a Live Auction. All funds raised will go to SurfAid International.
